What will you do differently in 2024? As I was thinking about what I wanted to talk about in this post that was the question that popped into my head. I looked over at the wall where I have my 2023 business goals posted. Looking through each item I realized that I did not check off everything on my list.
That feeling of disappointment started to seep into my mind. You know when you start to wonder if you’re moving the needle at all? Whether it’s in your business, your personal life, or maybe a financial goal. Well, I’m here to tell you not to dwell on what you didn’t get done in 2023. Go ahead and do a little dance with a hand clap for the things that you did check off your goals list!
I’ve got 6 things that you should consider if you want to do things differently in 2024.
- Evaluate each of the incomplete items on your goals list from each list to see why you didn’t meet that goal. Did you take on too much? Do you need to redo your budget? Is organization an area where you can improve? Did you have too many distractions? These are all important questions to ask yourself.
- Consider hiring some help. There are companies out there that can provide affordable services to help you with your business. You can also incorporate tools and processes to help you with efficiency.
- Get rid of the distractions. I don’t know about you, but I’ve been distracted by celebrity gossip (it’s been juicy lately). One of the changes that I have already implemented is turning off the TV. I find it easier to stay focused when I put in my pear pods (I don’t have Apple Air pods) and listen to some tunes.
- Connect more. This is an area that I struggle with myself. But, in 2024 I’m committing to stepping out of my comfort zone to go to more community events and making meaningful connections.
- Don’t be afraid to fail (as the saying goes “If you’re not failing, you’re not trying”). Perhaps you had something on your list that you completed, but it didn’t turn out as you had hoped. All is not lost. Consider finding a different way to go about it or scratch it all together and go in a different direction. It can sometimes take many failures to get to a win. It can also take many Nos to get to a Yes. This is not necessarily a bad thing.
- Lastly, show yourself some grace. We are our own worst critics sometimes. Don’t be so hard on yourself. You’re allowed to make mistakes. Learn from them and do better going forward.
