Which forms of IDs do Florida Notaries Accept?
Florida IDs
A Florida identification card, or driver license issued by the public agency authorized to issue driver licenses.
Passport
- A passport issues by the Department of the United States is an acceptable form of identification. Alternatively, we can accept a foreign government-issued passport stamped by the United States Bureau of Citizenship.
Other State IDs
- A driver’s license or an identification card issued by a public agency authorized to issue driver licenses. The driver license can be from a state other than Florida.
- A driver’s license issued by a United States Territory is also acceptable.
- A driver’s license or identification card issued by Canada or Mexico.
Federal IDs and Sworn Statements
- An Identification card issued by the United States armed forces in any branch of the armed forces.
- A health identification card issued by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs.
- The Florida Department of Corrections issues an inmate identification card for inmates currently in its custody. This card is acceptable as identification if it was issued on or after January 1, 1991.
- An inmate identification card issued by United States Department of Justice, or Bureau of Prisons for an inmate presently in the custody of the department.
- A law enforcement officer must provide a sworn, written statement stating that they confiscated the forms of identification of the inmate upon confinement, and that the person whose signature is to be notarized is the same person named in the document.
- Lastly, an identification card issued by United States Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services.
Can you notarize a document that has already been signed?
Best practice is that you sign the document in front of the notary.
Do you need to see the physical identification, or can I just give you a copy?
Best practice is for the notary to physically examine the ID provided by the Signer for forgery and other abnormalities.
How much do you charge?
Generally, there is a $10 per notarial act fee. Additional fees apply for travel, document witnessing, and loose certificates. Call me for a custom quote.
Do you provide witnesses?
It is best practice for the Signer to provide the witnesses. However, I can provide 1 witness upon request. My witness fee is $25 per witness. (Excludes Wills and Trusts)
How long will it take to get my document notarized?
The truth is it depends. For instance, factors such as the number of people involved, or document pages can impact how long it takes. Include as much information as you can when booking your appointment to be provided an accurate time expectation.
Are you available on the weekends?
Yes, I am available on the weekends from 8AM-12PM. I have also posted my hours on the Contact page.
Can you take same day appointments?
Yes, I can. Same day appointments require a 1-hour notice.
What forms of payment do you accept?
I accept cash, debit, and credit card payments. Payment is due at time of service unless otherwise discussed.
